Marshall’s Mission: Welcome to Adventure and Sustainable Living
Welcome to adventure! Since starting my YouTube journey in 2020, my mission has evolved from nomadic travel to building a sustainable off-grid homestead that can serve as a living example of eco-friendly living.
Through each year of my 5-year plan, I’ve taken steps to bring this vision closer to reality, and now, as I approach Year 5, I’m preparing to welcome others to a truly unique adventure rooted in nature, community, and sustainability.
Year-by-Year Journey: How “Welcome to Adventure” Became a Lifestyle
- Year 1: Launch Mellow Nomadic Adventures and adapt my minivan for van life, even amid a global pandemic.
- Year 2: Get monetized on YouTube, downsize my belongings, and aim for full-time travel.
- Year 3: Go on multi-month trips, scout for land, and research grants to support my homestead dream.
- Year 4: Save for a land down payment with a goal of acquiring property by Year 5.
Year 5 and Beyond: Turning the Homestead Dream into a Reality
My mission is more than just a homestead; it’s an invitation to experience an adventure like no other. Here’s what the “Welcome to Adventure” Homestead will offer:
- Nature Preserve: With the support of conservation grants, I’ll dedicate part of the land as a nature preserve, building raised walkways from pallet wood so visitors can explore without disturbing the natural environment.
- Primitive Campground: Part of the land will serve as a dispersed campground, giving fellow nomads a place to stay and supporting the homestead with rental income.
- Sustainable Off-Grid Living: From a rain-catchment chicken coop to native plants that support natural feed, the homestead will showcase sustainable practices, inspiring others to adopt eco-friendly approaches.
- Agriculture & Woodworking: With a small farm area for micro-greens or woodworking, I’ll explore ways to give back to the community while generating income to support the homestead’s growth.
- Community Spaces: Trails, wildlife observation areas, and nature viewing spots will welcome visitors to relax and connect with nature.
- Modular Living Spaces: Starting with a yurt or tiny shed, I’ll create practical living spaces alongside an outdoor kitchen and a woodshop, with the goal of building a community focused on simplicity and purpose.
